How Is the Carbon Footprint of My Purchases Calculated?
How Is the Carbon Footprint of My Purchases Calculated?
Updated over a month ago

Every purchase affects the environment, whether through the materials used, how it's made, or how it's delivered.

To measure this impact, we use CO₂ equivalent (CO₂e), which converts all greenhouse gases into the amount of CO₂ that would have the same warming effect.

We categorize each transaction based on the type of merchant (electronics, restaurants, car rentals, etc.). For each category, we have calculated an average CO₂e emission per euro spent. The total carbon footprint of a transaction is simply the purchase amount in euros multiplied by the CO₂e rate for the corresponding category.

Our sources include data provided by government organizations such as INSEE and ADEME, as well as independent European and international studies.

We're continuously refining our data for better accuracy.
