How does the referral program work?

Updated this week

⚠️ The referral program is currently only available on the mobile app.

At Joko, we love sharing—and with our referral program, sharing pays off!

What’s in it for me?

When you refer a friend, you can earn $5 when your referee creates an account and link their bank to Joko.

And for your friend? They’ll receive $1!

If you haven't received your bonus, you can check this article.

How to refer someone?

You can refer your friends and family as soon as you’ve earned your first cash back, whether through online or in-store offers or by purchasing a gift card.

You can access the referral program by going to the "My Profile" tab and selecting "Referrals."

To invite friends, simply grant us access to your contacts, tap "Invite friends," and choose who you’d like to share your referral code with via SMS or email.

⚠️ Prefer not to share your contact list? No problem! You can manually copy your referral code and send it to friends and family by tapping "Share my referral code" at the bottom of your screen.

Note: Referral codes contain only lowercase letters.

⚠️ Important: If your friend downloads the app using your referral link, that alone isn’t enough to activate the referral program. They must enter your referral code during registration for it to count.

Is the referral bonus automatically added to my wallet?

Referral bonuses are collected just like cash back on your purchases! Open the app to claim your rewards.

Is there a limit to how many people I can refer?

Since November 2025, referrals are limited to 20 referees, except for Joko Ambassadors, who can continue referring beyond this limit.

Please note that the referral bonus is limited to $600 per user, per year. Once you reach this limit, you will no longer earn additional referral bonuses.

What happens once I reach the 20-referral limit?

If you’re not an Ambassador and you’ve reached the limit, your referral code will no longer work. A message will appear in the app to let you know and invite you to apply for the Ambassador program.

If someone tries to sign up for Joko using your referral code, they’ll see a message letting them know the code is no longer available. The message will say:
“This code is no longer available: the referral limit has been reached.”
